More than a café, a stage sprouting from urban cracks.
在城市的縫隙里，總有一些意想不到的呼吸口。在蘇州湖濱新天地的這一隅，設(shè)計(jì)團(tuán)隊(duì)以“城市裂縫” 為設(shè)計(jì)主題，基于雙層集裝箱改造，將建筑解構(gòu)為具有張力的空間形態(tài)，呼應(yīng)吳彥祖倡導(dǎo)的 “無(wú)拘、隨性卻不失堅(jiān)韌秩序” 的 WHATEVER 品牌內(nèi)核。設(shè)計(jì)核心在于打破傳統(tǒng)建筑的規(guī)整邊界，通過(guò)空間的 “裂變” 與重組，把都市的喧囂與咖啡的靜謐并置在同一幀畫面，重新建立人與建筑、人與城市的互動(dòng)關(guān)系，打造契合年輕群體 “不被定義” 的消費(fèi)與社交場(chǎng)景。
There are always unexpected breathing spaces tucked away in the crevices of a city. In this corner of Lakeside Paradise in Suzhou, the design team adopted the concept of urban cracks and transformed two stacked shipping containers into a dynamic spatial form. This deconstructive architectural design echoes the core ethos of the WHATEVER brand advocated by Daniel Wu—unrestrained, spontaneous yet underpinned by a resilient order.
The core of the design lies in breaking the rigid boundaries of conventional architecture. Through the fragmentation and recombination of space, it juxtaposes the hustle and bustle of the city with the tranquility of a café within a single spatial frame. By doing so, it redefines the interactive relationship between people, architecture and the urban environment, creating a consumption and social venue that resonates with the younger generation’s pursuit of an undefined lifestyle.

01 湖邊的裂痕 / A crack along the shore
湖岸被輕輕撕開的一道痕跡，起點(diǎn)就在這里。
沿湖外立面以簡(jiǎn)潔的體塊切割為主要手法，建筑主體與湖岸形成自然呼應(yīng)。通過(guò)硬質(zhì)感的建筑體量與柔緩的湖面形成材質(zhì)與形態(tài)對(duì)比，既保證建筑在湖濱環(huán)境中的視覺辨識(shí)度，又通過(guò)通透的界面處理，實(shí)現(xiàn)室內(nèi)外景觀的相互滲透，讓咖啡空間與湖景資源有機(jī)融合。
A subtle slit gently carved into the lakeshore—here marks its starting point.
The lakeside facade adopts a clean mass-cutting approach, with the building’s main structure naturally echoing the shoreline. Contrasting the rigid architectural volume against the serene water surface, the design ensures the building’s visual distinctiveness by the lakeside. Meanwhile, its transparent interfaces enable seamless interplay between indoor and outdoor landscapes, organically integrating the café space with the lake views.

02 裂開的街角 / A fracture at the corner
外擺區(qū)采用木質(zhì)鋪地作為主要材質(zhì)，通過(guò)平整的鋪裝邏輯與街道形成自然過(guò)渡。設(shè)計(jì)弱化了建筑與城市的硬性邊界，以溫潤(rùn)的材質(zhì)質(zhì)感柔化街道喧囂，構(gòu)建出兼具實(shí)用性與休閑感的過(guò)渡空間，滿足用戶臨時(shí)停留、社交聚合的功能需求。
The outdoor seating area features wooden paving as the primary material, creating a seamless transition with the street through a neat paving layout. The design blurs the rigid boundary between the building and the city, softens street hustle with the warm texture of wood, and builds a functional yet relaxed transitional space that caters to users’ needs for temporary stays and social gatherings.

03 縫隙之門 / The threshold of the fissure
入口采用 “雙板夾隙” 結(jié)構(gòu)，由兩片角度不同的板材夾持形成狹長(zhǎng)通道。非對(duì)稱的傾斜設(shè)計(jì)既通過(guò)獨(dú)特的形態(tài)造型提升入口辨識(shí)度，又搭配視線引導(dǎo)營(yíng)造了探索感，強(qiáng)化了 “裂縫” 的空間意象，實(shí)現(xiàn)功能、視覺與主題的統(tǒng)一。
The entrance adopts a double-panel sandwich gap structure, with two angled panels forming a narrow passage. Its asymmetrical slant design not only boosts the entrance’s recognizability through a distinctive form but also fosters a sense of exploration via sightline guidance. This reinforces the spatial imagery of cracks and achieves the unity of function, visuals, and theme.

建筑主體在集裝箱的原始結(jié)構(gòu)骨架基礎(chǔ)上，通過(guò)局部切割與延展，將 “湖岸裂變” 的力感轉(zhuǎn)化為立面形態(tài)。左側(cè)上掀式窗體設(shè)計(jì)，既增加了入口區(qū)域的通風(fēng)與采光，又形成了獨(dú)特的建筑細(xì)節(jié)，讓靜態(tài)的立面產(chǎn)生動(dòng)態(tài)張力，呼應(yīng)品牌年輕、靈動(dòng)的氣質(zhì)。
三片傾斜片墻為主題核心表達(dá)載體，施工遵循 “框架 - 基層 - 表皮” 的技術(shù)邏輯：首先以 30mm 方鋼搭建傾斜框架，保障結(jié)構(gòu)穩(wěn)定性；再覆以鋁板作為 PU 石皮的承載基層，為表皮鋪貼提供平整、牢固的附著面，同時(shí)增強(qiáng)板材整體剛度；最后鋪貼 600*1200mm 規(guī)格 PU 石皮，搭配銀色金屬鋁板收邊。石皮的粗糲質(zhì)感與金屬的精致光澤相互交織，既提升了建筑的耐候性與實(shí)用性，又通過(guò)工藝細(xì)節(jié)傳遞品牌 “隨性而堅(jiān)韌” 的內(nèi)核。
Based on the original frame of the shipping container, the main building transforms the dynamic tension of lakeshore fragmentation into its facade form through partial cutting and extension. The upward-opening window on the left not only enhances ventilation and daylighting at the entrance but also creates a distinctive architectural detail, endowing the static facade with dynamic tension that echoes the brand’s youthful, vibrant spirit.
The three slanted wall panels serve as the core medium for expressing the design theme, constructed following the technical logic of frame-base-skin: first, a slanted frame is built with 30mm square steel to ensure structural stability; next, aluminum panels are applied as the base layer for PU stone veneers, providing a flat, firm surface for veneer installation while enhancing the overall rigidity of the panels; finally, 600*1200mm PU stone veneers are laid and finished with silver aluminum trim. The rough texture of the stone veneers interweaves with the sleek luster of the metal, which not only improves the building’s weather resistance and functionality but also conveys the brand’s core value of being free-spirited yet resilient through sophisticated craftsmanship details.

樓梯采用外掛式設(shè)計(jì)，傾斜嵌入兩片墻體的夾縫之間，隱喻 “裂縫中向上探索” 的空間敘事。結(jié)構(gòu)上，通過(guò)在原集裝箱頂部增設(shè)橫向鋼框架，實(shí)現(xiàn)樓梯與主體建筑的拉結(jié)固定，該框架同時(shí)兼具遮雨頂棚功能；空調(diào)外機(jī)隱藏于框架內(nèi)部，避免設(shè)備外露破壞立面完整性，實(shí)現(xiàn)結(jié)構(gòu)、功能與美學(xué)的一體化設(shè)計(jì)。
片墻傾斜角度與樓梯坡度形成視覺與結(jié)構(gòu)的雙重呼應(yīng)，橫向鋼框架將三者串聯(lián)為有機(jī)整體。這種設(shè)計(jì)既強(qiáng)化了 “裂縫生長(zhǎng)” 的空間邏輯，又通過(guò)鋼結(jié)構(gòu)構(gòu)件讓片墻、樓梯與框架形成相互支撐的有機(jī)整體，提升了整體建筑的穩(wěn)定性，延續(xù)了 “解構(gòu)與重組” 的設(shè)計(jì)思路。
The external staircase is embedded at an angle in the gap between two walls, embodying the spatial narrative of upward exploration through cracks. Structurally, an additional horizontal steel frame installed on top of the original container secures the staircase to the main building, while also serving as a rain shelter. Air conditioning outdoor units are concealed within this frame to prevent equipment exposure from compromising facade integrity, thus achieving an integrated design that unifies structure, function, and aesthetics.
The inclination angle of the wall panels echoes the staircase slope both visually and structurally, and the horizontal steel frame connects the three components into an organic whole. This design not only reinforces the spatial logic of growth from cracks but also leverages steel structural elements to form a mutually supportive system between the wall panels, staircase, and frame, enhancing the overall stability of the building and extending the core design concept of deconstruction and recombination.

04 裂隙深處 / Within the fissure

一層空間通過(guò)體塊分割形成多層次布局，利用光影變化強(qiáng)化空間的縱深感與沉浸感。功能分區(qū)明確，涵蓋吧臺(tái)、室內(nèi)用餐區(qū)、寵物友好區(qū)等，滿足咖啡制作、用餐、社交等核心需求，材質(zhì)上延續(xù)外立面的粗糲與精致交織風(fēng)格，保持空間質(zhì)感的統(tǒng)一性。
The ground floor features a multi-layered layout formed by volume division, with light and shadow variations enhancing the spatial depth and immersive experience. Boasting clear functional zoning that includes a bar counter, indoor dining area, and pet-friendly zone, it caters to core needs such as coffee preparation, dining, and socializing. In terms of materials, it continues the facade’s blend of rugged and refined textures, ensuring the consistency of spatial tactile and visual quality.

2F 內(nèi)部空間 / The interior space
二層空間通過(guò)挑高設(shè)計(jì)與通透界面處理，提升空間開闊感。自然光透過(guò)立面縫隙引入室內(nèi)，幾何形態(tài)的墻體與家具形成有序的空間節(jié)奏，營(yíng)造出 “自由而不失秩序” 的氛圍，與品牌理念高度契合。
露臺(tái)作為 “裂縫旅程” 的終點(diǎn)與空間制高點(diǎn)，設(shè)計(jì)上以強(qiáng)化觀景體驗(yàn)為核心，采用簡(jiǎn)潔的鋪裝與護(hù)欄形式減少視覺干擾。視線沿建筑裂隙形態(tài)自然延伸，直抵東方之門等城市地標(biāo)，讓都市景觀與 “裂縫” 主題在此形成獨(dú)特視覺對(duì)話，實(shí)現(xiàn)建筑意象與城市視野的交融共生。
The second floor adopts a high ceiling design and transparent interface treatment to enhance spatial openness. Natural light filters into the interior through the gaps in the facade, and the geometric walls and furniture create an orderly spatial rhythm, fostering an atmosphere of freedom without sacrificing order that aligns perfectly with the brand philosophy.
Serving as the culmination and highest vantage point of the crack journey, the terrace is designed to prioritize the viewing experience, with minimalist paving and railings to minimize visual distractions. Sightlines extend naturally along the building’s crack-like contours, leading directly to urban landmarks such as the Gate of the Orient. This setup creates a unique visual dialogue between the urban landscape and the crack theme, achieving a symbiotic integration of architectural imagery and city views.

夜間照明以燈帶為核心載體，沿建筑線條精準(zhǔn)布置，既通過(guò)光線勾勒出建筑解構(gòu)后的動(dòng)態(tài)形態(tài)，強(qiáng)化 “城市裂縫” 的主題表達(dá)，光影溫和且富有層次。當(dāng)夜幕降臨，流動(dòng)的光線游走于立面之間，建筑在黑暗中散發(fā)靈動(dòng)能量，如同都市脈絡(luò)中跳動(dòng)的心跳，既營(yíng)造出契合品牌氣質(zhì)的年輕氛圍，更讓建筑成為夜間城市景觀中富有節(jié)奏與活力的一部分。
Night lighting centers on light strips, precisely installed along the building’s contours. It outlines the dynamic deconstructed form of the structure to reinforce the urban cracks theme, casting soft, layered light and shadow. As night falls, flowing light glides across the facade, imbuing the building with vivid vitality in the dark—like a beating pulse in the urban fabric. This not only creates a youthful ambiance true to the brand identity but also elevates the structure into a rhythmic, vibrant highlight of the city’s nightscape.
